On July 12, 2022, Microsoft published the Release Wave 2 plans for Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP and CRM solutions. These functionalities will be released between October 2022 and March 2023.

- Finance: General availability of vendor invoice OCR (optical character recognition), which automates the reading and recognition of vendor invoices. Enhancement of subscription billing solution with quotes and split billing. Enhancements of Tax Calculation service, Electronic Invoice service, and Electronic reporting.
- Supply Chain Management: New capabilities for end-to-end processes such as procure-to-pay and quote-to-cash that manufacturers, distributors, and retailers require to meet their supply chain needs. New Supply-risk analytics to help businesses identify and mitigate risks associated with sourcing strategies. Improved support for supply forecasting. Planning optimisation enhancements to better support manufacturers in the process industry shorten their planning cycles. Enhanced allocation capabilities through Inventory Visibility lets organisations track real-time consumption within allocated quantities in support of promotions, special events, and product launches.
- Project Operations: New capabilities to empower project management with Project Budgeting and Time-phased forecasting, Baselines, and Snapshots. Advanced subcontracting and subscription billing capabilities.
- Commerce: New and updated B2B experiences, including sales agreements across channels and customer-specific catalogues. Streamlined omnichannel media management with new workflows.

Key updates for 2022 release wave 2 include moment-based marketing capabilities with real-time journey orchestration, data & AI to market at scale and improved tools to personalise content to grow audience interactions.
Dynamics 365 Sales
Dynamics 365 Sales continues to optimise the seller experience using data and analytics to help sellers prioritise their work.
Dynamics 365 Customer Service
Main enhancements to Dynamics 365 Customer service include enhancement of omnichannel voice capabilities with support for voicemail, call-back, and direct agent dialling. Enhanced unified routing, modernised agent experience with a new continuous view of the previous conversation, and improved extensibility of out-of-the-box reports, among others.
Dynamics 365 Field Service
The 2022 release wave 2 includes a new schedule board to get more performance and usability improvements plus resource optimisation improvements for lock constraints and clustering logic for nearby work orders.
